RE: Lower vehicle sales may just be the economy

Outlook for GM and Chrysler is that they will run out of cash by the end of this year. Not good! Ford has enough cash to make it til 2010 or so. Oh YES ford is in so much better shape......NOT The release I seen said they got the money to stay afloat till "2010 or so" by morgage their factories. Now if sales do not pick up...... Can you say robing Peter to pay Paul. Its all just a ploy to look good to stock holders....and it worked mid day price of their stock was up.

RE: City ordinance banning Rvs on homeowners property

Of course its defeatable, vote the &@$^ards out. On the other hand I would not want to live in a city where people can park their land yachts on the street and block up parking or as a crapped out semi-permanent eyesore next to their home. Now, I park my fifth wheel at home but I have 12 acres to park it on. Once the "New" ordinance is passed voting the &@$^ards out wont help and having the ordinance removed is next to impossible. It usually ends up in an incoherent rewrite that no one understands. As to parking on the street that is public property and there are plenty ways to have that taken care of without reverting to some neo nazi ordinance. JMO If you have enough room....not almost or just enough....but really enough room to keep it on your property (eye sore or not) it should be up to you.. If I don't like the way it looks I can always look the other way. I have 2 acres with white vinyl privacy fencing all the way around....Some in my town (the nosey ones that can't stand not knowing what I have) call the fence an eye sore..... I call it Fort Smith or Keep Out :B

RE: Lower vehicle sales may just be the economy

Bought used 2007 Taurus program car for $8200 tax and title. Very clean vehicle with sufficient room for me and the Thundering Herd, decent gas mileage. This is it in a nut shell...... Not many people want to spend BOO-KOO bucks to get a new car....Especially with the slower economy.....Sure we would all like to have a high mpg hybrid or a plug in car but not at the price (even the imports are selling them at ridiculous prices) they asking for them. Give me something GOOD at a GOOD price and I'll be there.:B But how can a company sell things at a good price when they are taxed to the bone just for the privilege of having employees. In Mi we just received a additional +60.00 dollar per employee charge (this is on top of the money taken out of your pay check that your employer has to match out of their pocket) to help fund the "extended" unemployment benefits. There are no free rides.....Some one has to pay for everything.....These additional costs will get tacked onto the final sale price of everything produced until like the cars. Many can no longer afford them. I would have loved to see the big three ask how congress got home for the holidays or how the got back to Washington.:h How about congress suggesting the CEOs to take pay cuts. Is this not a case of the Kettle calling the pot black. I wish the big three would have just went back to congress and just said Look we don't want any of "your" money.....Just quit taking it from us in the first place and we'll be ok... Oh well sorry I got off topic....JMO

RE: bathroom duct

I added two more heater ducts to my RV to help eliminate cold spots at the front of my coach. I bought 2 new round vent ends from a local RV store (General RV) and then went to Home depo and bought flexible dryer vent hose and hose clamps to run from the heater to the new vents. My vents and duct work was 3in I believe. The flexible dryer vent was alot cheeper than the duct work from the RV store.

RE: New dog is getting sick riding

The "Drug" options others suggest will work but I personally don't like to give my dogs any drugs unless it is absolutely necessary. Since the first trip she was sick and then one year later she was sick....How many times did she ride without getting sick..... We had a dog once that would get sick if he could see out the window while traveling.... If we covered his crate or had him in the bottom crates were he could not see out he was fine. He would watch all the cars and poles whizzing by and make himself sick. JMO but make sure it is "motion" making them sick before adding drugs. Tell all your furry friends Happy Thanksgiving from the gang at Majesty Pointers... P.S. they all tell me they like turkey and stuffing too.

RE: fold-down combined tv/dvd/stereo unit?

For a small screen unit look for the under counter, kitchen model. If you want a large screen sorry.....I have never seen a flip down large screen one either. Maybe some one else has.

RE: Fixing defective gas gauge on 98 Pace Arrow with Chev

Repair will not be cheep...:( on most it requires dropping the tank to change out sending unit. Just have some one check the ground to the sending unit before opting to change out sending unit....a poor tank ground can play havoc on a sending unit..... A cheep solution would be to use your trip-o-meeter. You can use it by estimating your next fuel stop the same way MS S&T does. X amount of fuel divided by your rigs MPG = miles you can travel before you need to get more fuel.:B Good luck

RE: Miles drivin in a day

We use our Rv to travel to dog shows. I don't suggest that what we do is safe as just last week end at a show we learned of another couple that was killed in a wreck after trying to get back home after a show. So please don't try to "break a record" unless you have to and then please get plenty of rest and be careful. Most of our driving is at night as we leave on Fridays after work (usually around 7 or 8 PM)to arrive for the show on Saturday morning. Longest we ever drove was from Detroit Mi to Perry Ga non stop and then after the show was over on Sunday (around 5 or 6Pm) drove back to Detroit. The trip down was real bad with rain and tornadoes in the area. It was raining so hard I think you would have drowned if you were standing out side. The stupidest thing I ever did was drive back from Beaufort NC (probably spelled wrong) to Detroit Mi after a dive trip. We had spent a week wreck diving off the east coast. We would make 3 dives a day and then the last day (after another 3 dives that day) we loaded all the gear and drove back non stop. To this day I don't remember the drive back. DW said I walked into the house, did not even acknowledge her, sat down and fell asleep. I am glad I did not hurt anyone and some one was sure looking out for me on that trip. From that trip on I never left tired or without a nap first. Please be careful with long hauls. Were all on the roads together. :W

RE: when is a camper to old

Welcome to the form. Like most have said.....It's mainly just a way to keep "junk" units from running down their RV park or to keep them from braking down in their sights and being left there.... If it looks good just play dumb...... I don't know how old it is.... My husband just bought it...... Has worked for my DW. :B First thing I thought when I read your post title. When is a camper to old? When they don't get up in the morning :S

RE: Line At The Microwave

I don't see anything wrong with what you did.... It sounds like the old "stopped dryer and no one around" in the coin laundry problem. Do you remove the close and use the dryer or will you be attacked for touching someone else's close?

Those SS woven 7" ex are 27$ at NAPA I have 4 of them (2 on each side rear dual) on my 99 MH. Never had a leak yet. :h I must just be lucky :B

RE: What do you think?

One thing I would like to point out is the statement in the article "dog are held to a higher standard". The opposite of this is true. Even though I love my dogs I have to remember that they are animals. Yes in the "human" sense the child probably (I say this because I was NOT their) did not provoke the dog. In an "animal" sense we have to remember that different stimuli will create different reaction. Sometimes it could simply be that the child stared down the dog....In our world not a big deal.....In Canine world a challenge....especially from another creature (child) the same height as the dog. We can't assume that an animal has the same values as we humans therefor they are "held to a lower standard" than the rest of us. Now that being said...I think that the owners and animal control findings (again I was not their but base on the article) that the dog is not vicious and was provoked would be what I would listen to. Being into animals as much as DW and I are we see these test (yes they do have animal behavior tests) give to lots of animals. They are quite intense at times and I don't think "I" would stand still for some of these things that the animal must pass. Lets face it the parents of the child (don't get me wrong I do feel for the parents and child that was bit) are angry at what happened to their child and are after their "Justice" or "revenge". Call it what you like. JMO I don't believe in capital punishment for humans and I don't think it is an answer for animals either. Have a great day and give your Fidio a big hug from me. :B

RE: tire cover retainers

You could use the "Hill Billy" tire covers like I do. Stack to straw bales in front of each tire to block the sun. I never had no problem with bungees :B

RE: "wallydocking" At Cabelas in Hamburg Pa?

Not been at the PA location lately but the Dundee MI location near me has even revamped their parking lot and made spots just for RVs and even put in a dump station.... ......I think the walmart camping idea is being embraced by other retailers and improved.... Lets hope it keeps going

RE: IFS vs. Straight Rail

IFS (independent front suspension) keep wheels in better contact with ground because one wheel can move "independent" of the other. On the straight rail (assuming you mean solid beam front axle) one wheel can not be moved without affecting the other wheel. Now that being said.....On a BIG HEAVY SLOW motor home.......I don't think either design makes much difference. I don't think many of us corner our MH at 60+mph. If we did everything inside would slide around. It will matter on sports cars or off road rigs when tire contact for control or traction is important. There is a difference in cost of aftermarket parts for the different types of front axle but none of them "require" any upgrades when compared to each other.

RE: fantastic fan crank broken

The hand crank has to be pulled down to work "manually" and then pushed back up to work "power"... Maybe that is all that is wrong....Just in the middle and not engaged in either gear...

RE: Am I being scammed???(UPDATE - IT GETS BETTER!)

You did the right thing. Many of these places use this excuse to get more money. If you think you have a problem, have it checked elsewhere for a second opinion. Otherwise; don't worry about it. Mark This is the best advice.....The second opinion is always best and while your at it get a second price....:B then use the best priced shop that you can trust..... Just one point to add..... Imagine your shock if ....... say a wheel came off at the ball joint or you went on a trip just after the new tires were installed and the bearing seized up about 100 miles from home and the shop never mentioned it to you...... Who would you be "Pissed" at then......:M Its not all a scam. "Licensed" shops do have a "duty" to tell you what they noticed on your car.... Yes some shops do take it to the extreme......:S You can always decline the repair.... At least then you can't say "they should have told me".:B

RE: Drive Line Disconnect Balance Required?

Below is the answer I got from remco. That's why I am asking the question. Thanks They quoted me a price and I asked about the driveshaft. There response: That price is for the drive shaft and shifter but you may still want to have it balanced at a local drive shaft shop. To balance it you have to have your slip yoke put on it I believe what they are telling you is simply..... They can not balance the assembly without all the parts. I would get the disconnect kit from them and install it. (assuming it is installed correctly) Then test drive it... If it is out of balance you would be the first to know.... then have the hole assembly balanced if needed. If not smile and drive it...:B JMO

RE: Rear End Ratio on Int. 4200 of 6.50? Why? Is this good?

The 6.50 would give you a lower gear ratio than the 4.50....I know it seams silly but a higher number is a lower ratio..... The lower gear ratio (6.50) would be better for more "off the line" power but would mean your motor would have to turn at a higher RPM at 65MPH than the same truck with a 4.50.....This means that with the same truck at highway speeds the 6.50 would use MORE fuel than the 4.50. Remember though that tire outer diameter (measure from the ground to the top of the tire) will also change engine RPM at highway speeds so if you are comparing two different trucks make sure to look at everything "EQUAL".

RE: Securing Items

These bolt cutters are the same type you can get at any hardware store. Those bolt cutters went through the part of the lock that went through the hinge thing like a hot knife through melted butter. OK....First I would like to.... Thank you for telling the dumb crooks how to do it and where to pick up a pair. (Not everyone that reads this are RV's) And second.... FYI Just because you were able to pop through possibly a cheep dollar store pad lock....Does not mean all locks are created equal....We run a salvage operation. I too have had to cut many locks (legally with papers and police approval) and some don't go down as easy. again Nothing is 100% we just need to make it tougher.
